Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu Öğrencilerinde Beden İmgesi ve Bazı Sosyodemografik Özelliklerle İlişkisi

Amaç: Beden imgesi hem bedensel, hem de ruhsal sağlık yönünden önemlidir. Bu çalışmada beden eğitimi
ve spor yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin beden imgesinin ve bazı sosyodemografik özelliklerle ilişkisinin araştırılması
amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Çalışmaya 286 Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu öğrencisi alınmıştır.
Öğrencilere sosyodemografik bilgi formu ve Çok Yönlü Beden-Self İlişkileri Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Veriler
SPSS 15.0 for Windows paket programıyla değerlendirilmiştir.
Bulgular: Öğrencilerin 183'ü (%64) erkek, 103'ü (%36) kızdı. Öğrencilerin 189'u (%66.1) beden öğretmenliği,
97'si (%339) antrenörlük bölümündeydi. Öğrencilerin 160'ı (%60.6) takım sporu, 104'ü (%39.4)
bireysel spor yapıyordu. Görünüş yönelimi ve sağlık değerlendirmesi alt ölçek puanları arasındaki fark cinsiyete
göre istatistiksel yönden anlamlı bulunmuştur. Görünüşü değerlendirme alt ölçek puanı gelir düzeyi
düşük olanlarda orta olanlara göre daha düşük bulunmuştur. Beden eğitimi öğretmenliği bölümü 3. sınıf
öğrencilerinin fiziksel yeterliliği değerlendirme alt ölçeği puanı diğer sınıflardan anlamlı düzeyde yüksek
bulunmuştur.
Tartışma: Öğrencilerin sosyodemografik özelliklerine göre beden imgesi puanları arasında çok fark bulunmamıştır.
Fark bulunan alanlarda öğrencilere danışmanlık yapılması önerilir.
The relationship between body image and some sociodemographic characteristics of the students of College of Physical Education and Sports
Objective: Body image is important both for physical and mental health. In this study, it has been aimed to investigate that body image of the
students of Cumhuriyet University College of Physical Education and Sports and their relations with some sociodemographic characteristics.
Methods: Two hundred eighty-six students constituted the sample of this study. Sociodemographic information form and The Multidimensional
Body-Self Relations Questionnaire were applied to the students. SPSS 15.0 for Windows package program was used to evaluate data.
Findings: One hundred and eighty-three (%64) of students were male, 103 (%36) of them were female; 189 of them (%66.1) were in branch
of sport teacher, and 97 of them (%339) were in sports trainer; 160 of them (%60.6) had team sport and 104 of them (%39.4) had individual
sport. The difference between mean points of the appearance orientation and the health evaluation subscales according to gender was found
to be statistically significant. The mean point of the appearance evaluation subscale was found to be lower in low income than those moderate.
The mean point of physical adequacy evaluation subscale in the third class students of teacher branch was found to be significantly
higher than the other classes.
Discussion: The body image points according to the students? sociodemographic characteristics had no important differences. Students
might have counselling on issues that have difference.
