Depresyonun intihar girişimiyle pozitif korelasyon gösterdiği bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmada intihar girişimiyle çok daha yüksek oranda korelasyon gösteren özel bir depresyon tipini tanımladık. Letal depresyon olarak adlandırdığımız bu fenomen, semptomları intihar girişiminden önceki son 48 saatte ortaya çıkan ve intiharla son bulan çok kısa depresif bir dönemdir.

It is known that depression correlates positively with suicide. We have isolated a very specific type of depression which has a much higher correlation with attempted suicide. This phenomenon, which we call lethal depression, is a very short depressive episode whose symptoms appear only in the last 48 hours before the attempt.
