İntihar Girişiminde Bulunanlarda Demografik Özelikler, Yaşam Olayları ve Sosyal Desteğin Cinsiyete Göre Karşılaştırılması

Amaç: Zehirlenme yöntemiyle intihar girişiminde bulunan bir grup olgunun demografik özeliklerini, intihar
girişiminde etkili olan olumsuz yaşam olaylarını, eksen 1 patolojilerini ve sosyal desteklerini cinsiyete göre
karşılaştırmaktır.
Yöntem: Çalışma, hastaneye yatışı yapılan 156 (110 kadın, 46 erkek) olguyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Olgulara
demografik – klinik özelikler, son bir haftaya kadar olan olumsuz yaşam olaylarını değerlendiren bilgi formu,
çok boyutlu algılanan sosyal destek ölçeği bilgi formları verildi.
Bulgular: Kadınların yaş ortalaması (21.04) erkeklere (27.17) göre daha düşüktü (t:-5.185 p<0.001).
Kadınların %70’i ve erkeklerin %4.3’ü son 1 yıl içerisinde aile içi fiziksel şiddete uğradığını bildirmiştir. İntihar
girişiminden bir hafta üncesine kadar kadınların %71.8’inin, erkeklerin %15.2’sinin aileleriyle bir sorun
yaşadığı saptanmıştır. Çok boyutlu algılanan sosyal destek ölçeğinde kadınların aldıkları puan ortalaması
erkeklere göre daha düşük bulunmuştur (t:-14.63, p<0.001).
Tartışma: İntihar girişiminden 1 hafta öncesine kadar aileleriyle sorun yaşama, aile içi fiziksel şiddete uğrama,
işsiz olma oranlarının kadınlarda erkeklere göre daha yüksek olduğu, sosyal desteğin ise daha düşük
olduğu saptanmıştır. Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde tamamlanmış intihar olgularının kadınlarda erkeklere
göre daha yüksek olmasında bu özeliklerin rolü bulunuyor olabilir.
Comparision of Sociodemographic Variables, Social Support and Life Events According to Sex in Patients Who Attempted Suicide
Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the sociodemographic variables, social support and presence of axis I disorders and presence
of negative life events which might have caused suicide attempt in patients who attempted suicide by posioning.
Method: This study was comprised of 156 (110 female, 46 male) patients who were hospitalised after admission to hospital for suicde attempt.
Those patients who accepted to participate in the study were given a questionnare about socidemographic varaibles and another scale
about social support and a list of negative life events that might have happened a week before suicide attempt.
Results: The mean age of female patients (21.04, SD:5.23) were lower than the mean age of male patients (27.17, SD:9.43) (t:-5.185
p<0.001). This study, % 70 of female and %4.3 of male patients reported physical abuse within family in the last one [year] of suicide attempt.
%71.8 of female patients had a problem with their family a week before the suicide attempt compared to %15.2 of male patients who had a
problem with their family a week before the suicide attempt. The mean point of social support of female patients were lower than the mean
point of social support of male patients (t:-14.63, P<0.001).
Conclusion: Female patients who attempted suicide had a higher ratio of having a problem with the family a week before their suicide attempt
and a higher ratio of physical abuse within family and again a higher ratio of unemployment compared to male patients. But the social support
of female patients was lower compared to male patients. These factors may play a role in the high percentage of completed suicide attempts
in Southeast Anatolia region.
