Not Being a Mother
In this paper, it is emphasized that after the 1960s, the social, cultural and historical explanations upon mothering went through a noticeable change with the feminist outlook. If the liberalistic utterance that anticipates the fact that the women should give their decision to be mothers themselves, the idea of ? I would decide to be a mother whenever I want? shows that the natural process of being a mother is transformed into a programmed event. The woman that puts an end the functionality of the father by deciding to be a mother on her own, also decides on the progression of her lineage. Psychoanalysis enlightens the difficulty in transmission of femininity that shows itself in the breaking off the linkage that exists between the mother and daughter and in Lacan's words the connection which includes love and hate simultaneously (heinamoration) as well as the interruption of transmission of this linkage to other generations as a result of ending unwanted pregnancies. The destruction of desire and the development of the oedipal structure in the transformation of the little girl wanting to be a mother starting at the very early ages into a woman who does not want to be a mother is one of the intenitons of this paper.
