Deliryum, çeşitli nedenlerle ortaya çıkan ve genellikle geriye dönebilen bir sendromdur. Bir çok nöropsikiyatrik belirtinin görülebildiği bir sendrom, genel hastanelerde en sık rastlanan psikiyatrik bozukluk olmakla birlikte, klinisyenler tarafından iyi tanınmamaktadır. Bu yazıda, çocuk ve ergenlerle ilgili çalışmaların kısıtlılığına karşın deliryum değişik yönleriyle gözden geçirilmeye çalışılmış ve bu bu konuda çocuk hekimleri ile işbirliğinin önemi vurgulanmıştır.

Delirium is usually a reversible syndrome which may have a wide array of causes and is manifested by various neuropsychiatric clinical features. Although it is the most common psychiatric disorder in general hospitals, delirium is not well recognized by the clinicians. There are very few studies on delirium in children and adolescents. This paper reviews the different aspects of delirium and emphasizes the importance of cooperation with the pediatricians.
