Psychoanalytical psychodrama has two origins: psychoanalysis and psychodrama. Psychodrama was developed by Levi Moreno in Vienna in 1920. Moreno is a psychiatrist, born in Bucharest, completed his medical training in Vienna and then immigrated to the USA. His is a pioneer of psychodrama, group psychotherapies and sociometry. But the Morenian psychodrama does not have solid theoretical bases for using in clinic settings with the different patients. In the 1950's, some French psychoanalyst, like Anzieu, Lebovici, Widdlocher, Kestember, Jeammet had the idea of using psychodramatical technique in psychoanalytical treatment, especially with children. In this way, they created group psychoanalytical psychodrama. In later [year]s, they developed individual psychoanalytical psychodrama for using with adult patients for whom classical psychoanalytical treatment is not indicated borderline or psychotic patients.
