Scales Used in the Evaluation of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in Türkiye
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a psychological disorder characterized by obsessive
thoughts, impulses, or images (obsessions), and/or compulsive behaviors or mental reactions
(compulsions). It is of great importance to utilize scientific assessment tools in the diagnosis and
evaluation of OCD to ascertain the severity of symptoms and monitor the progress of the condition.
The assessment tools and scales used in OCD should be capable of detecting additional diagnoses
that may impact the assessment, symptoms and severity of OCD, and measuring the level of OCD.
The objective of this article is to review assessment tools with Turkish validity and reliability studies
to assist clinicians in making assessments, measuring severity, and conducting follow-ups for the
clinical treatment of OCD and its research objectives. To achieve this, a number of assessment
tools have been included, including the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale, the Dimensional
Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale, the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale for Children,
the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale-Self-Report Form, and the Maudsley Obsessions
