Effect of Psyco-Educational Program Based on Rational Emotional Behavioural Approachon the Social Life Integration Skills of Children
This study aimed to examine the effect of the psycho-education program based on the Rational Emotional
Behavioral approach on children’s social life integration skills. For this purpose, an eight-session, psychoeducation program based on a Rational Emotional Behavioral approach was developed. The research group
consisted of sixth-grade students in a secondary school. These students were assigned to the experimental and
control groups using a matching method. A quasi-experimental design, including pretest and posttest, was used
in the research. It was conducted with 29 students, 15 in the experimental group and 14 in the control group.
“Social Life Integral Scale” and “Irrational Beliefs Scale for Adolescents” were preferred as data collection tools.
The nonparametric Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used in the data analysis part.
According to the study’s findings, the psycho-education program based on the Rational Emotional Behavioral
approach increased the social life integration levels and reduced irrational beliefs of children. In addition, the
psycho-education program has also enhanced children’s adaptation and communication skills, which are
components of social life integration. The program also effectively promoted children’s beliefs about the demand
for success and respect. However, this program did not affect children’s coping skills and comfort demands.
