The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire is widely used in the assessment of childhood traumatic experiences, but there are few studies in the literature regarding the psychometric properties of the questionnaire. The present study examines the construct validity of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire with confirmatory factor analysis in a non-clinical youngadult sample in Türkiye. The sample of the research consists of 573 young adults, 302 women and 271 men, aged 18-25, who continue their undergraduate education in different departments of universities. In the study, firstly, Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were found to be .80 for physical abuse, .77 for emotional abuse, .86 for sexual abuse, .93 for emotional neglect and .57 physical neglect. Secondly, the five-dimensional factorial structure of the Turkish version of the questionnaire, consisting of 28 items, was confirmed in a non-clinical sample group. The goodness of fit index values obtained indicates that the questionnaire is valid. In addition, it was determined that the physical neglect subscale had very low factor loads in general. As a result, it was evaluated that it is important to be careful in comments regarding the physical neglect subscale. In this context, it is recommended to conduct further studies on clinical sample groups and covering different age groups.
