Meslek Seçiminde Toplumsal Cinsiyetin Rolü: Bir Ölçek Geliştirme Çalışması

Meslek seçimi sürecini etkileyen önemli faktörlerden birisi de toplumsal cinsiyet rolleridir. Ancak ülkemizde lise öğrencilerinin meslek seçiminde toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin yargılarını ölçmeye yönelik bir ölçek bulunmamaktadır. Bu nedenle bu araştırmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin meslek seçimlerinde toplumsal cinsiyet kalıp yargılarının rolünü belirlemeye yönelik olarak “Meslek Seçiminde Toplumsal Cinsiyetin Rolü Ölçeğini” (MSTCRÖ) geliştirmektir. Ölçeğin faktör yapısının belirlenmesi amacı ile iki ayrı araştırma grubundan veri toplanmıştır. İlk veri seti (N = 901) ile açımlayıcı faktör analizi, ikinci veri seti (N = 504) ile de doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçeğin faktör analizleri sonucunda toplam varyansın % 50’sini açıklayan toplam 17 maddeden ve kısaca geleneksel ve eşitlikçi olarak adlandırılan iki boyuttan oluştuğu görülmüştür. MSTCRÖ'nin geleneksel boyutu için hesaplanan Cronbach alfa güvenirlik katsayısı .88, eşitlikçi boyutu içinse .77’dir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular tartışılarak önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
The Role of Gender in Occupational Choice: A Scale Development Study
Throughout adolescence, one of the important factors affecting the choice of occupation process is gender roles. However, in our country, there is no scale to measure the judgments of high school students regarding gender roles in the choice of occupation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop the “Role of Gender in Occupational Choice Scale” to determine the role of gender stereotypes in high school students' occupational choices. In order to determine the factor structure of the scale, data were collected from two separate research groups. Exploratory factor analysis was performed with the first data set (N = 901) and confirmatory factor analyses were performed with the second data set (N = 504). The results of the factor analyses revealed that the scale consisted of 17 items which explained 50% of the total variance. The Cronbach alpha coefficients are .88 for traditional subscale and .77 for egalitarian subscale. The findings of the study discussed along with suggested future directions.
