Terör olayları nedeniyle dünyanın her yerinde insanlar mağdur olmaktadır. Terör yüzünden her gün insanlar ölmekte, sakat kalmakta, mal mülklerini kaybetmektedir. Terör sona ermiş olsa bile terörün etkileri hemen yok olmamakta bu etkiler uzun yıllar teröre maruz kalmış insanlarda gözlenebilmektedir. Terörün yol açtığı yıkıcı sonuçların sonrasında ortaya çıkan ve insan yaşamını olumsuz etkileyen bu etkilere terör sonrası ortaya çıkmış post-travmatik stres bozukluğu denilmektedir. Yapılan araştırmalar, terör olaylarının en çok çocuklar üzerinde post-travmatik etkileri olduğunu, onlar üzerinde kalıcı hasarlar bıraktığını göstermektedir. Terör, Türkiye için yeni bir durum değildir. Yaklaşık yarım asırdır terör sorunu ile Türkiye mücadele etmektedir. Terör, milli birlik ve beraberliğe zarar verdiği gibi, sosyal hayattan eğitime, ekonomiye, ruh sağlığına kadar pek çok alanda ülkemizi etkilemektedir. Terör bölgesinde yaşayan ilköğretim öğrencileri terörden en çok etkilenen grupların başında gelmektedir. Bu araştırmada, terörün ilköğretim çağındaki öğrencileri nasıl etkilediği araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde, Şırnak ili nüfusuna kayıtlı ilköğretim öğrencileri örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Araştırmada, nitel ve nicel araştırma yöntemleri birlikte kullanılmıştır. Veriler, anket ve odak grup görüşme teknikleri ile elde edilmiştir. 62 öğrenci anket sorularını yanıtlarken 12 öğrenciyle de odak grup görüşmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin %69.4'ünde aşırı duygusallaşma, %74.2'sinde yoğun endişe/kaygı, %58'inde depresyon, %63'ünde dikkat bozukluğu, %56.5'inde özsaygı sorunu, %63'ünde uyku problemi sorunu bulunduğu anlaşılmıştır.

People become victims throughout the world due to terrorist incidents. Every day, hundreds of people are killed, become permanently disabled and lose their properties because of terror. Even if the terror ends, its effects do not disappear immediately; therefore, it is possible to observe them on people for a long time. These effects, which appear after destructive results that terror leads to, are called the post-traumatic stress disorder since they come out after the terrorist incidents. The studies carried out show that terrorist incidents have mostly post-traumatic effects on children, and that they inflict permanent damages on them. Terror is not a new case for Turkey. For nearly half a century, Turkey has tackled with terror issue. Terror not only damages national unity and togetherness but also affects our country in many fields such as social life, education, economy, psychology of community. The primary school students living in terror region are the main group mostly affected from it. In this study, how terror affects the primary school students was investigated. In the survey, the primary school students registered to Sirnak province registry office in South-eastern Anatolian Region were chosen as samples. In the study, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used together. The data were collected by means of surveys and focus group discussion. While 62 students responded the survey questions, focus group discussion was conducted with 12 students. According to survey results, it is understood that 69.4% of the students have become more sensitive, 74.2% of them have lived intensive anxiety/worry, 58% of them have experienced depression, 63% of them have had attention disorder, 56.5% of them have displayed self-esteem disorders and 63% of them have had sleeping problems.
