Öz saygı; bireyin kendisine ilişkin olumlu ya da olumsuz duygu, düşünce, davranışların bütünü şeklinde tanımlanmaktadır. İnsanların kendilerine yönelik algıladıkları değerlilik ve yeterlilik duyguları öz saygının şekillenmesinde oldukça önemlidir. Erken dönem yaşantılar bireylerin öz saygılarının oluşumunda oldukça etkilidir ve psikolojik açıdan sağlığın temellerinin atılmasındaki rolü büyüktür. Bu sebeple erken dönem yaşantılarla birlikte şekillenen öz saygı düşüklüğü birçok psikolojik problemin sebebi olarak karşımıza çıkabilmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bu araştırmanın amacı, Bilişsel Davranışçı Terapi, Pozitif Psikoloji ve Pozitif Psikoterapiye dayalı psikolojik danışma sürecinin düşük benlik saygısı ile baş etme ve benlik saygısını artırmadaki etkililiğini incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öz saygı düşüklüğüne bağlı olarak birtakım psikolojik problemler yaşayan 21 yaşında üniversite öğrencisi bir kadın danışanla 9 oturum gerçekleştirilmiştir. Programın etkililiği Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği, Pozitif ve Negatif Duygu Ölçeği, Beck Depresyon Envanteri ve Sürekli Kaygı Envanteri aracılığıyla ön test-son test sonuçlarıyla ve nitel verilerle incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda danışanın, öz saygı seviyesinin artmasıyla birlikte kendine güveninin yükseldiği, yaşam doyumunun arttığı, negatif duyguların azaldığı, pozitif duyguların yükseldiği, depresif belirtilerinin ve kaygı düzeyinin azaldığı ve hayata daha farklı bir bakış açısıyla umutla baktığı gözlenmiştir.

Self-esteem is defined as person's the totality of positive or negative feelings, thoughts, and behaviors about the herself. The sense of worthiness and competence that people perceive towards themselves is very important in shaping self-esteem. Early life experiences are very effective in the formation of self-esteem of individuals and has a great role in laying the foundations of health psychologically. For this reason, low self-esteem, which is shaped by early life experiences, can be the cause of many psychological problems. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of psychological counseling process based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Positive Psychotherapy to cope with low self-esteem, and to increase self-esteem. For this purpose, 9 sessions were held with a 21-year-old female university student who had some psychological problems due to low self-esteem. The effectiveness of the program was examined with pre-test-post-test results and qualitative data through the Life Satisfaction Scale, Positive and Negative Affect Scale, Beck Depression Inventory and Trait Anxiety Inventory. As a result of the study, it was observed that with the increase in the level of self-esteem, the client's self-confidence increased, her life satisfaction increased, negative emotions decreased, positive emotions increased, her depressive symptoms and anxiety levels decreased, and she looked at life with a different perspective.
