COVID-19 pandemisi bireylerde ve toplumda önemli ölçüde psikososyal strese neden olmaktadır. Yaşanılan sosyal izolasyon süreçleri, koronavirüslerin nörotrofik potansiyeli ve enflamatuar süreçler nedeniyle de pande- mi ortamında psikotik belirtilerin ortaya çıkmasında ve alevlenmesinde artış olabileceği düşünülmektedir. Aynı zamanda pandemi ortamı psikoz açısından koruyucu etkenlerin (sosyal destek ağı, toplum ruh sağlığı uygulamaları, fiziksel aktivite) kısıtlanmasına neden olmaktadır. Bununla birlikte bulaş riski psikotik belirtiler yaşayan bireylerin başvurularını azaltmaktadır. Bu durum mevcut problemin yeterince tespit edilememesine, psikozun kalıcılaşması, daha ağır seyretmesi ve daha fazla yıkıcı etkisinin olması ile sonuçlanabilir. Yakın dönemde yaşanan koronavirüs salgınlarında (SARS CoV- 1 ve MERS CoV) virüse maruz kalan kişilerde psikotik belirtilerin görüldüğü bildirilmiştir. Salgınlarla ilişkili uzun dönemli yeti yetimi nedenleri arasında ruhsal bozukluklar önemli bir yer kaplamaktadır. Bu yazıda COVİD-19 pan- demisinde bildirilen psikotik belirtiler ile ilgili bilimsel kaynaklarda yer alan kısıtlı veri gözden geçirilecektir. Ayrıca pandemi ortamındaki psikososyal stres, koro- navirüsler ve psikotik belirtiler arasındaki olası ilişkiler, konu üzerine yapılmış araştırmalardan edinilen veriler ışığında tartışılacaktır.

COVID-19 pandemic causes substantial psychosocial stress on individuals and the community. Due to social isolation, neurotrophic potential of coronaviruses and the inflammatory processes, occurrence and relapse of psychotic symptoms may increase during the pandemic. Furthermore, pandemic has limited some protective fac- tors for psychosis (i.e. social support, community mental health practices and physical activity). Additionally, admission of individuals suffering from psychotic symp- toms may decrease due to risk of viral contamination. This may lead to under-detection of the problem, persis- tence of psychotic symptoms, poorer prognosis and more severe outcomes. Psychotic symptoms were report- ed among infected individuals during the recent coron- avirus outbreaks (SARS CoV-1 and MERS CoV). Furthermore, mental problems were of the most sub- stantial causes of long term disability associated with these outbreaks. In this paper, limited data on psychotic symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic will be reviewed. Furthermore, psychosocial stress during the pandemic and plausible associations between the coron- aviruses and psychotic symptoms will be discussed in light of the previous research. Materials and Methods: Thirty autistic and 90 healthy children were included in the study. DNA was obtained using a special commercial kit (GeneAll, Korea). Genotyping was performed by PCR - RFLP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) protocol and images were obtained by agarose gel electrophoresis. Results and Discussion: No statistically significant difference was found in the MTHFR 677T allele frequency as 13.33% in the patient group and 19.4% in the control group as p = 0.285. Due to the fact that the number of patients included in the study was not desired and not homogeneous, we recommend looking at MTHFR A1298C polymorphism and COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase), BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), PTEN (phosphate and tensin homolog) genes.
