İçsel çatışmaların dışavurumu olarak görülen somatik semptomlar kadar bedende tercih ettikleri bölgelerde sorunsalla ilişki içerisindedir. Bu olgunun kusma davranışı, nüfuz edici anne imgesine gönderme yapmakta, annenin fazla gelen varlığı dışa atılmaktadır. Olguya tanınan alanla beraber semptom ortadan kalkmış, anneyle her büyük çatışmada bastırılan malzemenin dönüşü gibi semptom geri dönmüştür.
