Fransız psikopatoloji terminolojisi paranoidi paranoyaktan ayırır, birincisi paranoid şizofreniyle ikincisi paranoyayla ilgilidir. The French psychopathological nomenclature differentiates between the "Paranoid" and the "Paranoiac", the first pertaining to Paranoid Schizophrenia and the second to Paranoia. This distinction has disappeared from Anglo-Saxon terminology which uses the same adjective "paranoid" for both entities. This paper tries to date the distinction's extinction within the litterature and campaigns in favor of its restitution, based on data gathered from projective techniques. Indeed, in spite of sharing a common psychotic personality structure, the Paranoid and the Paranoiac present subtle nuances regarding their respective object relation, type of anxiety, defense mechanisms and thought processes.
