Evlat edinme, bir kez olup biten bir yaşam olayı değil, ilgili tarafların tüm yaşamına damgasını vuran bir süreçtir. Bu yazıda temel olarak, evlat edinme sürecinin en önemli parçası olan, çocuğa evlat edinildiği bilgisinin nasıl ve ne zaman verilebileceği ele alınmıştır. Öte yandan, evlat edinildiği bilgisinin çocuktan saklanmasının, yani aqile içinde sır haline dönüştürülmesinin ortaya çıkarabileceği sonuçlar vaka örnekleri üzerinden incelenmiştir. Evlat edinme kararının alınmasında etki eden faktörler ve bu kararın taraflar üzerindeki etkileri aile dinamikleri açısından irdelenmiş, literatür bilgileri ve klinik vaka örnekleri eşliğinde tartışılmıştır.

Adoption is not a life-event. Ir is a lifelong process with deep impact on each of the parties involved. The basic point of this article was how and when the information of adoprion process should be shared with the adoptee. Withholding information, as in closed adoption, creates an area of secrecy, which causes distortions in the relationship between the adoptee and adoptive parents. The pathogenic impact of the unshared adoption process was elaborated in clinical cases. The biological and psychosocial factors that made couples decide to adopt a child and the consequences of it were evaluated through the family dynamics. Overall, effects of adoption process on the adoptee and adoptive paretns are discussed under the light of recent literature.
