Başa çıkma tutumları, stres doğurucu olaylar ya da etkenlerin olumsuz etkileri ile mücadele etmek için kullanılan özgül davranışsal ve psikolojik çabaları içerir. Bu çalışmada başa çıkma tutumlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla geliştirilen COPE’nin (Başa Çıkma Tutumlarını Değerlendirme Ölçeği) Türkçeye çevrilerek psikometrik özellik-lerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Kırk yedi sağlıklı denek (21 erkek, 26 kadın) çalışmaya alındı. Deneklerin yaş ortalaması 26.0±4.8 idi. Cronbach α istatistiği ve Pearson bağıntı analizi uygulanarak ölçeğin iç tutarlılığı sınandı. İki farklı uygulama zamanında COPE alt ölçek ve toplam puanlarının test-tekrar test güvenirliği bağımlı gruplarda t testi ve Pearson bağıntı analizi uygulanarak araştırıldı. Cronbach α değeri 0.79 ve alt ölçeklere ait puanların COPE toplam puanıyla bağıntısı pozitif yönde ve anlamlı bulundu. Ölçeğe ait tek tek madde puanları pozitif yönde ve ileri düzeyde test-tekrar test güvenirliği göstermiştir. Bu sonuçlar COPE’nin psikometrik özelliklerinin Türk örnekleminde başa çıkma tutumlarının değerlendirilmesinde güvenilir bir ölçek olduğunu göstermektedir. Ölçeğin geçerliğine ilişkin kanıtların farklı psikopatoloji gruplarıyla yapılacak karşılaştırmalarla elde edilmesi yararlı olacaktır.

Coping strategies covers specific behavioral and psychological efforts using to cope the negative consequences of stressful life events. The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the COPE in a Turkish sample. Forty-seven healthy subjects (21 men, 26 women) were included in the study. The mean age of the sample was 26.0±4.8. The internal consistency and homogeneity were examined using the Cronbach α and Pear-son correlation analysis. The Students t test and Pearson correlation analysis were used for test-retest reliability. The scale showed high internal consistency (α=0.79). A high test-retest correlation level was obtained for the subscale scores and total scores of the scale. All of the item scores were correlated with the total scores. These findings suggest that COPE is a reliable instrument for assessing coping strategies. The discriminating validity of the COPE should be examined in different patient groups.
