Ergenlik döneminde aile ve arkadaş ilişkilerinde değişiklikler olduğu ileri sürülmektedir. Sosyal destek yakın ilişkilerin önemli bir yönünü oluşturur. Bu araştırma ergenlerin yakın ilişkilerini algılanan sosyal destek açısından ele almaya amaçlamıştır. İşçi ve öğrencilerde sosyal destek algısının yaşla değişimi incelenmiş, işçilerin öğrencilere göre daha düşük düzeyde destek algıladığı, öğrencilerde ise yaş ilerledikçe sosyal destek algısında düşmenin daha belirgin olduğu görülmüştür.

Adolescence is presumed to be a time of change in terms of family and peer relations. Social support is an important aspect of close relations. This study examines the close relations of adolescents in terms of perceived social support by comparing workers and students for the amount of support and the changes in perception of support by age. The results indicate that while workers perceive less amount of support, the perception of decreasing support by age is more prominent in the student group.
