Kadınlar yaşam süreçleri boyunca cinsiyetlerine özgü çeşitli psikososyal sorunlar yaşarlar. Bu sorunlar hastalığa bağlı özelliklerin yanı sıra bireysel özelliklerden ve içinde yaşanılan sosyokültürel çevreden önemli ölçüde etkilenir. Günümüzde kadın sağlığı sadece doğurganlık ve üreme sistemiyle ilgili sorunlarla sınırlı değildir. Kadın sağlığındaki çağdaş yaklaşım, yaşam boyu, bütün yaş gruplarını ve sağlığı etkileyen tüm faktörleri göz önünde bulunduran bütüncül yaklaşımdır. Bu yaklaşımın kapsamına erişkin dönemdeki kadınlarla birlikte kız çocukların, genç kızların ve ileri yaştaki postmenopozal kadınların psikososyal sorunları da girmektedir. Kadın sağlığının korunması ve geliştirilmesinde hemşirelerin rolü kuşkusuz çok önemlidir. Hemşireler kadınların psikososyal sorunlarını belirleme, bu sorunları çözmek için gereken psikososyal bakımı uygulama ve eğitici, koruyucu, savunucu, rehabilite edici ve danışmanlık rollerini kullanarak onları destekleme ve güçlendirmeyi hedef edinmelidir. Bu yazıda yaşam dönemlerine göre kadın sağlığını etkileyen psikososyal sorunlar ve bu sorunlara yönelik psikososyal bakım kavramı ele alınmıştır.

Women suffer from psychosocial problems unique to their gender throughout their lives. These problems are profoundly influenced by the social and cultural environment they live in as well as by individual characteristics and the characterstics of the illness. Today the issue of women's health is not confined to the problems related to fertility and their reproductive system. The contemporary approach to women's health is a holistic one that takes all the factors affecting lifelong health and all age groups into consideration. This approach includes the psychosocial problems of girls, teenage girls and postmenopausal women of older age along with those of adult females. Undoubtedly, the role nurses play in improving and maintaining women's health is of critical importance. In this respect, nurses have an obligation to determine the psychosocial problems of women, administer the neccessary psychosocial treatment in order to solve these problems as well as supporting and making them stronger through taking on their trainer, protector, defender, rehabilitation and counsellor roles. In this article, psychosocial problems affecting women's health in terms of their life cycles and the concept of psychosocial care for these problems have been dealt with.
