Annedeki Süreğen Depresyonun Çocuktaki Depresyon ve Kaygı Düzeylerine Etkisi: Karşılaştırmalı Bir Çalışma

Bu çalışmadaki annedeki süregen depresyonun çocuktaki kaygı ve depresyon düzeylerine etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya üniversitemiz psikiyatri polikliniğinde en az bir yıldır izlenen ve DSM-IV’e göre distimik bozukluk tanısı alan 44 kadın hastanın 8-17 yaşları arasındaki çocukları (n=79) ve kontrol grubu olarak da organik ve ruhsal hastalık nedeniyle hastaneye başvurmayan annelerin (n=45) çocukları (n=75) alınmıştır. Çalışmada Çocuklar İçin Depresyon Ölçeği (ÇDÖ), Çocuklar İçin Durumluk (ÇDKE) ve Sürekli (ÇSKE) Kaygı Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Sonuçta distimik bozukluk tanısı alan annelerin çocuklarının ÇDÖ ve ÇDKE puanları kontrol grubundan belirgin olarak yüksek bulunmuştur. ÇDÖ puanları ile ÇDKE ve ÇSKE puanları arasında pozitif korelasyon vardır. Örneklem, çocuk (8-11 yaş) ve ergen (12-17 yaş) olarak ayrılıp değerlendirildiğinde, distimik bozukluk tanısı olan ve kontrol grubu annelerin çocuklarında yalnızca ÇDKE puanları, ergenlerde ise ÇDÖ, ÇDKE ve ÇSKE puanları farklılık göstermiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları süregen depresyonu olan annelerin çocuklarında kontrol grubuna göre depresyon ve kaygı düzeylerinin yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir.
The Effects of Chronic Maternal Depression on Children’s Depression and Anxiety Levels: A Comparative Study
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of maternal chronic depression on children’s anxiety and depression levels. The 8-17 [year]-old children (n=79) of 44 women who had been treated by our university clinic for at least one [year] with the diagnosis of DSM-IV dysthymic disorder were compared with the same age children (n=75) of 45 women who had not admitted to a hospital. Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) and State (STAI 1), Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI 2) for Children were used. The scores of CDI and STAI 1 of the children with dsythymic mothers were higher than the children of the control group. There was a positive correlation between the scores of CDI and STAI 1. When the sample was divided into two groups as children (8-11 ages) and adolescents (12-17 ages), there was a significant difference in STAI 1 scores between the children of dysthymic and normal group mothers, whereas the scores of CDI, STAI 1 and STAI 2 differed significantly among the adolescents of the dysthymic and healthy mothers. The results of this study showed that the levels of depression and anxiety were higher in the children of the dysthymic mothers than the children of the control group.
