Lise gençleri arasında sigara, alkol ve madde kullanım yaygınlığı

Amaç: Ülkemizde gençler arasında sigara, alkol ve madde kullanım yaygınlığına ilişkin çeşitli çalışmalar yapılmış olmakla beraber, bu araştırmaların farklı yöntemlerle yapılmış olması, bölgeler arası karşılaştırmayı güç kılmaktadır. Bu nedenle 15 ayrı ilde lise ikinci sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik bir araştırma planlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırmaya Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, İstanbul, İzmir, Kocaeli, Malatya, Muğla, Sivas, Trabzon, Van illeri alınmıştır. Toplam 20245 anket uygulanmıştır. Uygulanan anketlerin 18599’u geçerlidir.
Bulgular: Yaşam boyu en az bir kez sigara kullananların oranı %63.9 iken, hergün sigara kullanım oranı %22 bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin %17.3’ü son bir ay içinde en az bir kez alkol kullandığını bildirirken, %9’u haftada en az bir kez alkol kullandıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Yaşam boyu en az bir kez esrar kullanma oranı %3.6 uçucu kullanma oranı %8.6, uyuşturucu-uyarıcı madde kullandığını belirtenlerin oranı ise %3.3 bulunmuştur.
Tartışma: Sigara ve alkol kullanım oranlarının yüksek olması dikkat çekici bir bulgudur. Sigara ve alkol dışındaki maddelerin kullanım oranlarının esrar kullanım oranı ile benzer düzeyde olması, bu maddelerin kullanım sıklığının küçümsenmeyecek düzeyde olduğunu göstermektedir. Uçucu madde kullanımına ilişkin yüksek oranlar, bu sorunun önemle ele alınması gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Yıllar içinde değişimin saptanması için, bu anketin aynı yöntemle tekrarlanması gereklidir.
Tobacco, Alcohol and Drug Use Among High School Students
Objective: Although there are various studies concerning the prevalence of cigarette, alcohol and drug use among adolescents in Turkey, it is difficult to compare the results among different regions because of the different methods used in these studies. The aim of the present study was to investigate substance use among second [year] high school students in 15 different cities.
Method: The research was conducted in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Eskisehir, Erzurum, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Malatya, Mugla, Sivas, Trabzon and Van. A total of 20245 questionnaire forms were given to second - [year] high school students between the ages 15 and 17. The number of valid questionnaires is 18599.
Results: It was found that while the rate of having smoked at least one cigarette during one’s lifetime was 63.9%, the rate of smoking every day was 22%. 17.3% of students stated that during the past [month] they had drunk at least one alcoholic beverage and 9% stated that they drink alcoholic beverages once a week. The rate of having used a substance at least once in one’s lifetime was 3.6% for cannabis, 8.6% for volatile substances, and 3.3% for other substances.
Conclusion: The high rate of cigarette and alcohol use is an important finding. The usage rate of substances other than tobacco and alcohol is similar to the cannabis usage rate. This finding shows that the usage of these substances should be regarded seriously. The high usage rates of volatile substances shows the increasingly widespread use of this substance. To determine the changes over periods of [year]s, this research must be repeated with the same method.
