Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinde İnternet Kullanımı

Amaç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinde bilgisayar ve internet kullanım özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak gerçekleştirildi. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Örneklemi İstanbul İli'nde hemşirelik bölümü bulunan üniversitelerde 2008-2009 ve 2009-2010 öğretim yılında lisans eğitimi almakta olan, çalışmaya katılmaya istekli, haftada en az 2 saat internet kullanan 987 öğrenci oluşturdu. Araştırmanın verileri, ilgili literatür taranarak ve uzman görüşü alınarak oluşturulan Bilgi Formu ile toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde, bilgisayar ortamında, tanımlayıcı istatistikler (yüzdelik, aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma, minimum-maxsimum) kullanıldı. Bulgular: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin %70,3'ünün bilgisayar ve internet bağlantısının olduğu, %62'sinin internete evinden bağlandığı, %89,9'unun internete 16:00-24:00 saatleri arasında girdiği, haftalık internet kullanımının 9,67±9,07 saat olduğu, interneti 5,35±2,60 yıldır kullandığı, %77,1'inin internet kullanımını kendi kendine öğrendiği, tamamına yakınının interneti e-mail, eğitimle ilgili araştırma/ödev, genel bilgi toplama, sohbet, MP-3 dinleme/indirme gibi amaçlar için kullandığı belirlendi. Öğrencilerin %98,6'sının e-mail kullandığı ve e-mail kullanan öğrencilerin %96,6'sının tanıdıklarıyla haberleşme için kullandığı; %69,8'inin internette oyun oynadığı ve oyun oynayanların %99,4'ünün eğlence oyunları ve %70,1'inin zeka oyunlarını tercih ettiği belirlendi. Öğrencilerin internetin anlamına ilişkin görüşleri incelendiğinde; %52'si internetin bilgi toplama, gazete okuma, tiyatro takip etme anlamına geldiğini belirtirken, %41,8'i sohbet, facebook, iletişim, Msn, dünya ile bağlantı, %4,8'i boşa vakit, bağımlılık ve hastalık olduğunu bildirdi. Sonuç: Araştırma sonucunda; hemşirelik öğrencilerinin çoğunun bilgisayar ve internetinin olduğu, interneti e-mail, bilgi toplama, sohbet, oyun oynama ve MP-3 dinleme/indirme amacıyla kullandığı ve problemli internet kullanımının düşük olduğu belirlendi. Problemli internet kullanımının düşük olmasına rağmen, öğrencilerin problemli internet kullanımı için risk oluşturduğu görüldü.
Internet Use Among Nursing Students
Objective: This descriptive study aims to explore the features of internet and computer use among nursing students. Material and Methods: This study was performed with 987 studentsusing the internet at least two hours per week and attending to the undergraduate nursing programs of various universities in Istanbul during 2008 - 2009 and 2009 - 2010 academic years. The subjects were chosen among the students who were willing to participate in the research.The data of the study was collected using an Information Form which was developed by the researchers based upon a review of relevant literature and expert opinions. To evaluate data computer programs for decriptive statistics-percentile method, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, and minimum-maximum- were used. Results: The study revealed that 70,3% of the students have a computer and internet conection, 62,2% of them connect to the internet from home, 89,9% of them of them use the internet between 16:00-24:00 o'clock. The duration of weekly internet use is 9,67±9,07 hours, theyuse the internet for 5,35±2,60 years and, 77,1% have taught themselves how to use the internet. It was found that almost all of the students use the internet to send emails, search information for research/homework, general knowledge, chatting, listening to or downloading MP3 music, and etc. It was found that 98,6% of the students use email and 96,6% of them use it to communicate with friends. 69,8% of the students play games on the internet. 99,4% of them prefer entertainment games while 70,1% of them prefer intelligence games. 52% of the students regard internet as a means for searching information, reading newspapers, and watching plays while 41,8% regard it as a means for chatting, using facebook, communicating, msn, connecting with the world and 4,8% of them think that internet use is a waste of time, addictive, and harmful to health. Conclusion: The results showed that most of the nursing students have a computer and internet access. They used the internet to send emails, obtain information, chat with friends, play games, and listen to and download free MP3 music. It was found that the level of problematic use of the internet is low. Despite this, it was determined that there is a risk of misuse of the internet for these students.
