Ağaç ve Bekleyiş başlığı altında, Godot ’u Beklerkende Vladimir ve Estragon'un dışında, “bekleme” eylemi içinde olan Ağaç’ın, "yaşam” ile “ölüm” arasında, doğaya uygun bekleyişine dikkat çekilmiştir. Ağaç’ın doğal bekleyişi ile sosyal insanın allegorileri olarak tanımlanan Vladimir ve Estragon’nun “bekleme” sayıntısı arasındaki farka değinilmiştir. Doğa- toplum parçalanması bağlamında, kültürel bir olgu olarak modern insanın giderek eylemsizliğe ulaşan varoluş çabası ile doğal varoluş eylemi arasındaki karşıtlık üzerinde durulmuştur. Modern insanın mutsuzluğunun, düşünen bir varlık olma bilinci ile kendini önemli hissetme duygusuna ve kendi ürettiği konvansiyonlara koşullu oluşuna bağlanmış; bu varoluş biçiminin insanı, aşama aşama doğadan kopardığı savına ulaşılmıştır. Doğadan kopuşla kaosa sürüklenen dünyada, belirli kalıpların kısır döngüsüne sıkışarak özünü, varoluş amacını yitiren insanın, bilincindeki dağılmayla birlikte “yaşam” ile “ölüm” arasında bekleme olgusuna koşullandığı görülmüştür. “Beklenen şey” in kimliği, niteliği konusunda da insanın “bilememe” durumu içinde bulunduğu; Godot ’nun, bilememe durumunun şifresi olduğu saptanmıştır. Doğayı yitiren insanın yaşam içindeki umutsuz durumu ve bu durumun uzam tasarımlarında görselleştirilmesi, oyunlardan örneklerle somutlanmaya çalışılmıştır. Tennessee Williams'ın Kısa Oyunlarında “Yaşam” ve “Ölüm” Beklentisi başlığı altında, Williams ile Beckett’in gerçekliğe yaklaşımları ve bu yaklaşımın yapıtlarına yansıyışındaki benzerliklere dikkat çekilmiştir. PVilliams ’ın ilk oyunlarında “beklenti "nin, "yaşam beklentisi ” bağlamında doğaya kaçış ile sonuçlandığı; olgunluk dönemi oyunlarında “yok edici zaman "ın etkisi ve yaşam korkusu nedeni ile giderek “ölüm beklentisi ”ne dönüştüğü örneklerle açıklanmıştır. Son olarak, Williams ‘ın yaşlı insanların dünyasını konu aldığı kısa oyunlarında, ölüm gerçeğine yaklaşan insanların çaresizlik içindeki eylemsiz bekleyişlerine yer verilmiştir.

The title “The Tree and Waiting” leaves aside the main characters, Vladimir and Estragon in waiting for Godot and focuses attention upon the natural waiting process of the Tree between life and death. The difference between the waiting of the tree in its natural process and that of the social human being, portrayed as human allegories in Vladimir and Estragon has been dealt with. Taking into account the disintegration of nature and society, as a cultural fact, the existential struggle of modern man who is dragged into inertia and the natural act of existing in nature has been compared with. The consciousness of modern man as a natural being who thinks about his own existence and unhappiness in the world has been linked to the conditions such as the conventions created by man himself and his own feeling of "being important”. The conclusion reached at the very end is that this sort of existence leads man to be separated gradually from nature. It has been established that in this world which has been dragged to chaos as a result of breaking its ties with nature, jammed within the vicious circle of certain molds, man has lost the essence o f his own nature, and the meaning o f his existential aim, man is left in a state of waiting between “life ” and “death ”, he is in a position of total ignorance, in which he does not know anything about the identity and the quality of "the thing he has been waiting for” and Godot remains the secret code of the state of man’s “not being able to know”. The hopeless condition of man who has lost his ties with nature in life and the placing of spatial designs of this condition are shown within the concrete examples laken from the plays. In the title of “waiting” : “Life and Death ” as shown in the short plays of T. Williams, Williams ’ and Beckett's approaches to reality and the resemblance in their reflection of these approaches in their plays have been pointed out-it has been explained by way of examples from the plays that in the first plays of Williams the theme of “waiting” is evaluated as waiting for life as well as escape to nature; whereas in his nature plays, the theme of "waiting" gradually changes into “waiting for death” under the influnce of destructiveness of time. As a result, in Williams’ short plays dealing with the geriatric world the inactive waiting of men who approach gradually to the bitter reality of death, in despair, has been discussed.
