Bu yazıda, Türkiye'de psikoloji anıştırmalarında ölçek kullanımında karşılaştığımız sorunlar ele alınmakta ve ölçeklerle ilgili çalışmaların, daha verimli olarak hangi yönlerde geliştirilebileceği tartışılmaktadır. Ölçeklerle ilgili bütünleştirici çalışmaların gerekliliği, doğrulayıcı ve betimleyici faktör analizlerinin daha sık kullanımı, yeni ölçek geliştirme teknikleri, ölçeklerin yayınlanması, kullanımı ve dağıtımında mesleki ölçütleri gözeten bir haberleşme ve eşgüdüm önerilmektedir.

The present state of the problems encountered in the adaptation or local construction of scales in Turkey are discussed. A number of integrative studies, including a more productive use of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Item-response theory applications are advocated. Finally, the need for a central coordination to observe the professional standards in the construction, administration and distribution of scales is emphasized. The researchers are warned against the overemphasis on test adaptation and the danger of being viewed as professionals concerned esclusively with tests. A call is made for a productive use of scales in the testing of theoretical constructs and generation of new research bypotheses.
