Amaç: Düzce İl merkezi ilköğretim ikinci kademede eğitim-öğretim gören çocukların sağlıklı davranış geliştirmesinde etkili olan koruyucu ve risk faktörlerini belirlemek. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemi 2009-2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında güz döneminde Düzce il merkezinde bulunan 9 okuldaki 1695 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Risk gruplarını belirlemek ve grubu tanımlamak amacıyla yapılan araştırmanın verileri; çocuğun kendisi, okulu, akranları ve ailesine özgün riskleri içeren araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan bir anket formu aracılığı ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, tanımlayıcı istatistikler hesaplanmış ve risk grupları sınıflama ve regresyon ağaçları (Classification And Regression Tree, CART) yardımıyla oluşturulmuştur. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 12.96±1.03 olup %49.1’ i kız öğrencidir. Çalışmaya dahil edilen tüm çocuklarda ortalama risk puanı 54.5±9.6 dır (min: 29-max:98). Çocukların toplam risk puanını anlamlı düzeyde etkileyen 18 değişken belirlenmiştir. Üçüncü quartile değeri 60 olarak hesaplanmış ve bu değerin üzerinde risk puanı alan 402 çocuk (%25.18) riskli kabul edilmiştir. Tartışma ve Sonuç: Okulda şiddete ve/ ya da istemediği davranışa maruz kalma, anne ve/ ya da babanın ölmüş olması, aile bütünlüğü, disiplin cezası, kardeş sayısının 4’ten az veya fazla olması, aile üyelerinden en az birinin hapse girmiş olması, ailesi tarafından azarlanma, sokakta çalışma, okulda başarı, arkadaşları tarafından alay edilme, çocuğun bir hastalığının olduğunu düşünmesi, ailenin gelir düzeyi, kötü alışkanlığının olması, erkek cinsiyette ve 12.5 yaşından büyük olma çocuklarda riskten koruyucu ya da risk artırıcı olarak bulduğumuz faktörlerdir. Koruyucu faktörleri destekleyici ve risk artırıcı faktörleri azaltıcı önlemler alınması çocukların kendine güvenen, başarılı ve güçlü kişilik geliştirmesine katkı verecektir.

Objective: Determining the protective and risk factors that is effective on developing healthy behavior for children who are educated in Düzce region primary secondary stage education system. Methods: The sample of the study constitute from 1695 students from 9 schools in Düzce city center. The data of the research has. been collected through a questionnaire form that is constituted by researchers which contains risks about the child himself/herself, his/her school, his/her peers and his/her family. When analyzing the data, descriptive statistics have been calculated and the risk groups have been created by means of the Classification and Regression Tree, CART. Results: The students who had participated to the study have an age average of 12.96±1.03 and 49.1% of them are girls. The average risk point is 54.5±9.6 for all of the children included to the study (min: 29-max: 98). 18 variants have been determined that have a meaningful effect on children’s total risk point. The third quartile value has been calculated as 60 and 402 children (25.18%) who had a risk point above this value have been accepted as risky. Discussion and Conclusion: Exposure to violence and/ or unrequested behavior at school, death of mother and/ or father, the integrity of family, the disciplinary punishment, having less or more than 4 siblings, having at least one of the family members to be sent to prison, being rebuked by his/her family, working in the street, success at school, being mocked by his/her friends, considering himself/herself as having a disease, the family’s level of income, having bad habits, the male gender and being older than the age of 12.5 are factors found that are protective or risk-increasing for children. Making supportive provisions to the protective factors and reducing provisions for the risk-increasing factors will be contributing children to develop their self confidence, success and a strong personality.
