İ.Ü. Edebiyat Fakültesi, Psikoloji Bölümüne bağlı olarak hizmet veren "Psikolojik Danışma ve Uygulama Servisi (Pembe Ev)" üniversiteye ve topluma yönelik danışmanlık ve rehberlik hizmeti veren ve aynı zamanda psikolojinin tüm alanlarında psikoloji Öğrencilerine araştırmalar yaparak ilave eğitim almala?rına imkan veren bir kuruluştur. Bu servisin hizmet biriminde Edebiyat Fakültesi Psikoloji Bölümünden bazı öğretim üyeleri ve yardımcıları topluma ve üniversi'teye gönüllü olarak ilave hizmet götürmektedirler. Servisin çalışma alanını üni?versite mensupları ve öğrenciler ile toplumun her kesiminden ve yaş grubundan vatandaşlar oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 31 Aralık 1990-31 Aralık 1991 tarihleri arasında Psikolojik Danışma ve Uygulamalar Servisine başvuran 180 vakanın psiko-sosyal özelliklerini taramaktır. Çalışmada başvuruda bulunanlarla yapılan görüşmeler sırasında toplumun yaş, cinsiyet, öğrenim durumu, meslek vb. gibi demografik bilgileri incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, özetle 1989 yılında hizmete açılan Psikolojik Danışma ve Uygulama Servisini psikoloji camiasına tanıtmak, o günden bu güne yapılan çalışmaların içeriği hakkında genel bir bilgi vermek ve geçen yıl içindeki vaka incelemelerini ayrıntılı olarak irdelemek, ayrıca servisimizde gelecekte yapılma'sı planlanan çalışma alanları ve konuları hakkında bilgi vermektedir.

In this paper Center for Psychological Counselling and Experimental Psychology of the Department of Psychology at Istanbul University called "The Pink House" which was oppened in 1989 is introduced and certain characteris?tics of the consultants for the year 1991 is analized. The Pink House is a four storey building with an area of 400 m2 , which provides the following services to the community through a volunteer staff of ten professors and asistants from the Department of Psychology: 1) Guidance and counselling services are offered to University students and children in order to help them with then psychological problems. 2) Programs are developed for the education of children who are slow learners. 3) Psychological measurement and evaluation services, offeed a long with. 4) The newly established industrial psychology unit which will be dealing with selection problems in factories and industrial environments. The Pink Hou's e also offers additional scientific and educational oppurtunities to the students as well as the graduates of psychology through conferences and seminars. From the analyses of the psychological, demographic and statistical fin?dings for the year 1991 it can be summarized that about 45 % of the consultants were children at the 2-12 age group, a majority of them being boys. The mean age of their mothers was about 35 and the fathers 39, presenting an age group of parenthood which is older than that of the rural population. Mothers, on the ave?rege, were homemakers rather than career women, with primary education, and fathers came from the private sector and were either lycée or university gradutes. They had, on the average, two children (less than the rural average) and came from a distance of at least, fifteen kilometers away from the Pink House. They were actually loving parents, anxious to bring up their children as happy and successful individuals of the society: The majority of the adults were young intellectuals from, among the 20-30 age group, usually university students of graduates, who mostly had depressive tendencies or communication prob?lems. it is our great hope that the psychological counselling and administration center will open new horizons to our students and graduates while serving the community.
