The Results of the MMPI and the Cornell Index of Three Different Groups of Blind Subjects
In this study, the findings of the MMPI and the Cornell Index
tests of personality from a group of 38 blind subjects is discussed.
As a result of the MMPI test, two distinct types of profiles were
obtained. The first type had 2, 3 or more points above T-Score 70,
mainly at Sc, Pa and M points of the Clinical Scales, their (F)
validity score was also high. The second type had very low points,
below or about 50 T-Score on the average at the Hs and Hy clinical
scales, with a comparatively high (L) validity score.
The results of the Cornell Index Test yielded for 30 % of the
subjects more than 10 index scores, and a cumulation of answers
at the following factors : IX, III, II and X. These results show
similarities between the findings of the two tests indicating the
possibility of the development of a different type of blind ^adjust?ment mechanism» in these subjects as distinct from the non-blinds.
