Bu araştırmada liseli ergenlerde internetin problemli kullanım şekillerinden biri olan sosyal ağ bağımlılığının hangi temel ihtiyaçlarla ilişkili olduğunu incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma verileri 2013-2014 öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde İstanbul’daki liselerde eğitim gören 350 öğrenciden toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında Sosyal Ağ Bağımlılığı Ölçeği ve Temel İhtiyaçlar Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney U ve Spearman's rho analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır Araştırmanın bulgularına göre sosyal ağ bağımlılık puanlarının kadınlarda erkeklere göre daha fazla olduğu ve sınıf düzeyine göre sosyal ağ bağımlılığı ve temel ihtiyaçların farklılaştığı bulunmuştur. Ayrıca sosyal ağ bağımlılığı ile ait olma arasında negatif yönde ve orta düzeyde, güç/kontrol ihtiyacı ile negatif yönde ve düşük düzeyde korelasyon olduğu araştırmanın temel bulguları arasındadır. .

This study aims to investigate which basic needs are related to social network addiction which can be regarded as a problematic use of internet by high-school adolescents. The data was collected from 350 students studying in high schools in Istanbul in the second term of 2013-2014 school year. Social Network Addiction Scale and Basic Needs Scale were used to collect the data. Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney U and Spearman’s rho analyses were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings of the study, it was found that the scores of female participants in the scale of social network addiction were higher than the scores of male participants in the same scale and social network addiction and basic needs changed according to students’ class level. Besides, a negative and moderate correlation between social network addiction and belonging, and a negative and low correlation between social network addiction and the need of power/control were other main findings of the study.
