NIDA propose that addiction is a brain disorder that there is an orchestration problem between some brain structures and functions. This proposition is true but this disease is not the cause of addiction; disordered brain is the effect/ consequence of long term drug use. Describing addiction as purely brain disorder is a deterministic approach and it is insufficient and limited. No brain exists without human, society and environmental conditions. Addicted people are also individuals who have free will that can make choices and at the onset of substance abuse they can say no substance and later on they can seek treatment and rehabilitation. Admitting that the individuals have free will, our hopes will rise about that substance users will join the treatment options and facilities.
