This is a studv on transference phenomena in the pedagogical relationship conducted in a psychoanalytically oriented clinical approach. It is based on a difficult classroom situation experienced by a secondary education teacher. We seek to question both the meaning of the transference from the student to the teacher, the manner in which it occurred and how it was located, received and responded to. The case shows that transference is able to reactualize repressed desires related to ‘imago’, which operates on current objects for which the practice of mediation intervenes with other objects as poles of investment. This study highlights crucial issues in teaching practice*, including the handling of the student-teacher relationship.
