Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Duygusal Zeka ve Stresle Başa Çıkma Stilleri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin duygusal zeka yetenekleri ile stresle başa çıkma stilleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir, öğrencilerin duygusal zeka yeteneklerini belirlemek için Acar (2001) tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlama çalışmaları yapılan Bar-On EQ Anketi kullanılmıştır. Stresle başa çıkma stilleri ise Türküm (2002) tarafından geliştirilen Stresle Başa Çıkma Ölçeği ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın veri toplama grubunu, Selçuk Üniversitesinin farklı bölümlerinde öğrenim görmekte olan öğrenciler arasından tesadüfi küme örnekleme yoluyla seçilen toplam 428 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın veri toplama grubunu oluşturan öğrencilerden 198’i kız ve 230’u erkek öğrencidir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; üniversite öğrencilerinin duygusal zeka kişisel beceriler, kişiler arası beceriler, uyumluluk boyutu, stresle başa çıkma boyutu ve genel ruh durumu boyutu ile stresle başa çıkma stillerinden problem odaklı başa çıkma alt ölçeği arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler saptanmıştır. Kişisel beceriler alt boyutu ile stresle başa çıkma stillerinden sorunla uğraşmaktan kaçınma alt ölçeği arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki gözlenirken, kişiler arası beceriler ve genel ruh durumu alt boyutları ile sosyal destek arama alt ölçeği arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki gözlenmiştir.
An Investigation of the Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and Coping With Stress Styles of the University Students
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence abilities and the coping with stress styles of the university students. In the order to deter mine the students` emotional intelligence abilities, The Baron Emotional Quotient Inventory that was adapted to Turkish by Acar (2001) was utilized. The coping with stress styles are determined by "Coping with Stress Scale" constructed by Türküm (2002).
The sample of the study is composed of 428 students attending different faculties of Selcuk Universityand is determined by randomly cluster sampling method. 198 of the participants are girls and 230 are boys.
According to the research results; positive significant relationship was observed between emotional intelligence, intrapersonal abilities, interpersonal abilities, adaptability scales, coping with stress scale, general mood scale and inclining to the problem from the coping with stress styles whereas it was observed that there is a negative significant relationship between intrapersonal abilities subscale and avoidance from the problem of the coping with stress styles, it was investigated that there is a positive significant relationship between interpersonal abilitiesgeneral mood scale and seeking social support subscale.
