This paper aims to discuss the processes involved in finding one’s own voice throughout life as a person, and as a psychoanalyst. Perhaps this means identifying with the voices of significant others in our lives, while at the same time always modifying, gradually undoing the identifications and giving up idealizations in order to create something new. Thus trying to find our own creative, inner voice, which is not a mere imitation. But is this achieved once and for all, or is it a continuous, life long search?
