The concept of narcissism appears in a relatively early period in the work of S. Freud in the context of object selection, especially the homosexual one. But in 1914. with "on narcissism"’, narcissism was treated as a concept with several dimensions: a form of perversion, a stage of development, investment of the ego by the libido and a form of object selection. But with the introduction of the death drive in 1920 narcissism lost his autonomy and became a part of the auto conservation drives. A. Green proposes a new conception of narcissism with the aim of clarifying the relation of narcissism to the death drive. According to Green narcissism must be handled in relation to the desire which pushes the subject to search her lost center in the object in a fusional identification. But this operation does not create lasting effects and disappointment is inevitable. In this stage the libido investment which was removed from the object and directed to the ego could bring some liberty to the ego. Unfortunatelv this issue which is named "narcissism of life" by Green, is no more satisfying because the ego cannot replace the object. Then the efforts to search the center are replaced by the search for nothingness, the point of zero. There is neither pleasure, nor unpleasure but ascetism. life anorexia and aphanisis; this is the death narcissism.
