It is always surprising how cover songs could carry the spirit of time through decades. Timeless songs in question are the ones who come up to one’s mind from nowhere. These free associative characteristics of songs had been evaluated both by Freud and Reik. In this paper, the concept of time in the philosophy of history, in mythology and in psychoanalysis is all gathered around songs and music itself, since music and lyrics serve as excellent envelopes of time. The affective memory of experiences could be brought back through the remembered songs and be a valuable analytic material in transference-counter-transference relationship.
