We establish a unique relationship with music. This relation starts in utero by hearing the internal and external voices that belong to mother and to the umbilical cord. In the postnatal period, the mother presents to the baby her voice, her tunes and lullabies. The baby joins this musical atmosphere by its voice and sounds and feel as if it has created it. Music originates in these ancient pleasures and then takes place as a cultural phenomenon between internal and external world. Musical pleasure is obtained by regression to primary process and by two mechanisms which save psychic expenditure, like it happens in jokes: 1- By discovery of the familiar 2- By lifting the inhibition. The music behind the words has the deepest meaning. So, trying to hear the music of the analyzand will bring a deeper understanding and help the analyst to create a new music together, in a common rhythm with the analizand.
