S Ferenczi
Psychoanalytic Training Process
In the lecture that he gave in Madrid in 1928, Ferenczi elaborated the question of psychoanalytic training. Ferenczi states that psychoanalytic training -of which the rules have just begun to be specified- should first begin with personal analysis, followed by a theoretical and practical training. He thinks that the psychoanalyst can comprehend the psychic reality of the patient via the data obtained from introspection. Thus for those who want to work as a psychoanalyst, personal analysis is a must. This should be followed by analysis under control, i.e., supervisions. All of this should be sustained by readings of S.Freud and his successors. Ferenczi draws attention to the importance of this tripartite training model.
