Giriş: Bu çalışmanda nonsirotik kronik Hepatit B hastaları ve inaktif HBsAg (Hepatit B yüzey antijeni) taşıyıcılarında yaşam kalitesinin irdelenmesi ve bu hastalarda yaşam kalitesi ile ilgili öngörücülerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Kocaeli Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları polikliniğince takip edilen 50 nonsirotik kronik Hepatit B hastası ve 34 inaktif HBsAg taşıyıcısı çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında sosyodemografik form ve SF-36 kullanılmıştır.bulgular: Hasta grubunda sosyal fonksiyon, mental sağlık ve vücut ağrısı puanları iyi düzeyde, fiziksel rol güçlüğü, emosyonel rol güçlüğü, genel sağlık ve canlık puanları kötü; taşıyıcı grupta mental sağlık, emosyonel rol güçlüğü, sosyal fonksiyon ve vücut ağrısı puanları iyi düzeyde, fiziksel rol güçlüğü, genel sağlık ve canlık puanları kötü düzeyde idi. Yaşam kalitesinin bozulmasında yaş ve ileri eğitim düzeyi bir öngörücü olarak saptanmıştır.tartışma ve Sonuç: Taşıyıcı grubun aktif gruba benzer puanlar almasında hastalığın kronik gidişi, bu-laştırıcılığı hastalıkla ilgili yanlış inançlar ve de hasta olma fikri etkili olmuş olabilir. Hepatit B taşıyıcısı olmak belirgin fiziksel kısıtlamalar neden olmasa da hastalığın seyri ve kronik doğası kişinin ciddi bir hastalığı olduğu algısına kapılmasına neden olabilir. Çalışmada kullanılan ölçeğin hastalığa özgü bir ölçek olmaması da iki grup arasındaki olası farklılıkların tam olarak ayırt edilememesine neden olmuş olabilir

Objective: The objective of this study is comparing quality of life scores between inactive HBsAG carriers and noncirrhotic chronic Hepatitis B patients. We also aimed to determine predictors of quality of life.Method: 50 noncirrhotic chronic Hepatitis B patients and 34 inactive HBsAG carriers were recruited for the study All were outpatiens of Infectious Diseases Department of Kocaeli University School of Medicine. Sociodemographic form and SF-36 have been used to collect data.Findings: Chronic patients had good scores in the subdomains of social functioning, mental health and bodily pain; bad scores in the subdomains of role physical, role emotional, general health and vitality Inactive carriers had good scores in the subdomains of mental health, role emotional, social functioning and bodily pain; bad scores in the subdomains of role physical, general health and vitality. Age and education level has been determined as a predictor of quality of life.Discussion and Conclusion: There were no significant differences between quality of life scores of two groups. Having the idea of being patient, myths about the disease and chronic course of illness may be the factors that reduced the quality of life scores of inactive carriers. While being inactive carrier of Hepatitis B does not cause physical restrictions, the course and chronic nature of illness may influence patients to get the idea of having a severe disease. We did not use a disease specific questioner so this may be a factor not to make an optimal comparison between two groups
