Çocukluk dönemi sonrasında ergenliğe geçişin ilk yıllarını içine alan ilk ergenlik(early adolescence)dönemi, gelişim dönemine özgü yeni kaygı durumlarının gözlenebildiği bir evredir. Yaklaşık 11-14 yaşlarını kapsayan ilk ergenlik, erinlik (puberty) evresindeki fiziksel vehormonaldeğişikliklere paralel olarak, kaygı ile birlikte utangaç­lık, suçluluk, depresyon, öfke gibi olumsuz duyguların yoğun yaşan­dığı bir gelişim dönemidir. Bu derlemede, öğrencilerin kendilerine, başkalarına ve içinde yaşadıkları dünyaya ilişkin mantıkdışı inançla­rının, kaygı düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisini vurgulayarak, ergenlere yö­nelik eğitim ve müdahale programlarında konunun öneminin kav­ranmasına katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır.

The earty adolescence periodincludes the first [year]s of the transition toadoks-cence, which is experienced after childhood. During this period, new situations causing anxiety emerge, specific to this growth. In the early adolescence period, which covers approximately the ages of11-14 [year]s, in parallel with the physi­cal and hormonal changes observed in puberty, anxiety together with shyness, guilt, depression, and negative emotions such as anger are experienced inten­sively. We aimed in this study to discuss the irrational beliefs that the students have about themselves, about others and about the world they live in, and the effect ofthese beliefs on their anxiety level. We hope to contribute to the lit­erature bystressing the importance of taking anxiety into consideration in the educational and interventional programs developed for adolescents.
