Subakut Sklerozan Panensefalit gelişmiş ülkelerde-son yıllarda görülme sıklığı rutin aşılama programları sebebiyle oldukça azalmış, kızamık virüsünün santral sinir sisteminde meydana getirdiği kronik viral bir enfeksiyondur. Genellikle erken çocukluk ve adolesan çağda 6-8 yıllık bir latans devresinden sonra görülmekle birlikte son yıllarda geç başlangıçlı olgular da nadir olmayarak bildirilmektedir. Teşhiste öykü ve klinikle birlikte EEG ve BOS Rubeola IgG incelemeleri çoğunlukla tanıyı koydurur. Çocuklukta sıklıkla mental yıkım ve davranış değişiklikleri ile başladığı bildirilen tablodan farklı olarak bize ekstrapiramidal sistem tutulumu bulguları ile başvuran olgumuzu literatür eşliğinde sunmayı uygun bulduk.

Subacite Sclerosing Panencephalitis is a chronic viral infection of CNS caused by defective measles virus. Its incidence has decreasecl clefinetily in developed countries in last decades, as a reflection of the routine vaccination programmes. Its common onset is in childhood or adolescent period after a 6 to 8 [year]s incubancy period whereas late onset cases have been reported not infiequently in last decades. Diagnosis is usually made with history. Clinical findings, electroencephalographic findings and estimation of CSF Rubeola-IgG value. In childhood, common presentation of illness is mental deterioration and behavioral changes, however we reported a childhood case with extrapyramiclal system involvement as a cause of first complaints and the discussion is made under the light of literature.
