Ekolali veya hastanın kendisine söylenen sözleri anlamadığı halde aynı şekilde tekrar etmesi, patolojik bir dil davranış bozukluğudur. Elektroensefalografide ortalama 50 µV ve a-ritminde diffüz bir zemin yavaşlaması tespit edildi. Kraniyal Manyetik Rezonans İncelemede anlamlı bir bulgu saptanmadı. Hastanın semptomları diazem ve ketiyapin tedavisine cevap verdi ve 24. saatin sonunda konuşması normale döndü.

Echolalia, or the meaningless repetition of words and phrases in the absence of understanding their meaning is a pathologic [language] behavior. This phenomenon has been reported in various developmental, neurological, and psychiatric conditions. In this study, we describe a 76- [year]-old Parkinson's disease patient presented with echolalia after prosthetic replacement of the femoral head for fracture of the femoral neck. In the first postoperative day, he could not speak spontaneously. When commands were given, the patient only repeated them back to the interviewer verbatim or echoed conversations between the other individuals in the room. Neurological examination demonstrated slight rest tremor and cogwheel rigidity, more pronounced on the left upper extremity. Electroencephalogram (EEG) demonstrated a diffuse slow background activity of an a-rhythm with a mean amplitude of 50 µV. Magnetic resonance imaging study was unremarkable. He responded to treatment with diazepam and quetiapin. His symptoms continued over the next 24 hours, with gradual resumption of normal speech.
