Amaç: Bu çalışmada üniversite öğrencilerinin yeme tutumları ile âile yapısı ve sosyo-demografik değişkenler arasındaki ilişkilerin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Buca Eğitim Fakültesi’nin değişik bölümlerinde okuyan 202 öğ-
renci (131 kız ve 71 erkek) araştırmanın örneklemini oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı
olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, “Yeme Tutumu Testi” ve “Âile Yapısını Değerlendirme Aracı” kullanılmıştır. Yeme tutumları ile âile yapısı arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığını incelmek için korelasyon analizi,
değişkenler arasında anlamlı farklılık olup olmadığını belirlemek için ise “t” testi, tek yönlü varyans
analizi ve Scheffe testi kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Elde edilen bulgularda yeme tutumları ile âile yapısı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamı
ştır. Sosyo-demografik değişkenler açısından yeme tutumlarının, cinsiyet, yaş ve vücut kitle indeksine
göre farklılaşırken; yaşanılan yer, gelir düzeyi, harçlık miktarı, ebeveynlerin alkol kullanması,
düzenli olarak spor yapma değişkenlerine göre yeme tutumları açısından anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmadığı
belirlenmiştir.
Sonuç: Yeme tutumları ile âilenin işlevselliği arasında bir ilişki olmadığı anlaşılmıştır. Ancak konuyla
ilgili boylamsal çalışmalara ihtiyaç olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Objective: The main purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between eating
attitudes and family structure among university students. The other aim of the study was to determine
whether the eating attitudes of young people were differed according to some socio-demographic
variables.
Method: The sample consists of 202 students (71 boys and 131 girls) from various departments of
the faculty of education at Buca in Dokuz Eylul University. The data were collected using a “Personality
Information Form”, “Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-40)” and “Family Assessment Device”. Pearson
correlation was used to analyze relationship between eating attitudes and family structure; ttest,
one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test was used to analyze data regarding the sample.
Findings: The findings have shown that there is not a significant relationship between anorexic
eating attitudes and family structure among university students. Anorexic eating attitudes of the
young people were differed according to some variables which included age, sex and body mass
index. However some of the variables such as living, make sports, parents’ drinking alcohol, socioeconomic
level, and pocket-money had no any effect on anorexic eating attitudes. Using the EAT
40 cut off score of 30, %78 of girls were classified as having abnormal eating attitudes and behaviors.
Discussion and Conclusion: It is found that the prevalence of abnormal eating attitudes in Turkish
sample was more frequent than western countries. For this reason, it is important to develop
and implement prevention studies for especially female young people. Although there is not any
significant relationship between anorexic eating attitudes and family structure and some variables,
it is concluded that both longitudinal investigations and research which aim to clarify factors lead
to eating disorders is needed.
