Hastaların ilgili hekimler tarafından belirlenen tıbbi tedavileri psikofarmakolojik ve psikoterapi gibi psikiyatrik tedavilerle birlikte olmalıdır. Bunun için eklektik-entegratif tedavi modelleri çok yararlıdır. Psikosomatik hastalıklar bilinç dışı çatışmaların patolojik fiziksel belirtilerle olan yansımaları olduğu için etkili psikoterapi hastaların bu çatışmalarını daha sağlıklı yollarla ifade edebilmeleri için kullanılmalıdır. Tedavi metodları hastaların biyopsikososyal durumuna ve psikiyatristİn deneyimlerine bağlı olarak , kişiye özgü şekillendirilmelidir.

Psychosocial factors are very important determinants in the development of psychosomatic illnesses along with biological factors such as genetics, and biological vulnerability. Based on this multifactorial etiology the treatments should be multi-dimensional as well. The medical treatment of patients determined by their physician should be conducted along with psychiatric treatments such as psychopharmacological and psychotherapy treatments. For that reason, eclectic and integrative treatments models are much mere useful!. Since psychosomatic illnesses are manifestations of unconscious emotional coflicts in pathological phisicial symptoms, effective psychotherapy should be used for the patients to express these conflicts in an alternative healthy way. Such treatment methods, should be authentically shaped based on the biopsychosocial situation of the patients and the experiences of the psychotherapist.
