Kas-iskelet sistemini tutan hastalıklardan psikiyatrik yönü en fazla olan hastalıklar fibromyalji ve romatoid artrittir. Her iki hastalığın da nedenine ilişkin tek bir açıklama yapılamamakla birlikte, oluşumlarında birincil olarak biyolojik olaylar yer alsa da psikosoyal yönlerinin de biyolojik etmenler kadar önemli olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Bu bölümde ağırlıklı olarak fibromiyaljinin daha kısa olarak da romatoid artritin etyolojileri, klinik tabloları, bunlar ile ilgili hipotezler ve tedavileri tartışılacaktır.

Fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis have the most psychiatric component among the diseases which effect musculoskeletal system. Despite there is not an single explanation for either of the diseases psychosocial components are as important as biological factors which are considered as the major etiological aspects. In this section we will describe mainly fibromyalgia syndrome later rheumatoid arthritis at some degree. And we will discuss the etiologic factors, clinical presentations, hypotheses about them and treatment strategies.
