Bakım vericilik artan oranda sağlık ve tedavi süreçleri içerisinde kendini gösterse de, gerektiği ölçüde bir tartışma fırsatı bulamamıştır. Özelikle bakım vericinin kişisel deneyiminin kendisinin ve bakım verdiği yakınının psikolojik ve fiziksel iyilik haline etkileri ve bu etkilerin doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak tedavi süreci ile etkileşimi son yıllarda önemli ölçüde kanıtın toplanmasına neden olmuştur. Bu derlememizde kliniğimizdeki deneyimlerimiz ışığında bakım vericiliğin temel gündemlerini ele alacağız. Bu gündemleri bakım vericilik deneyimi, bakım vericilik sürecinin kişinin fiziksel ve ruhsal sağlığına etkisi, ve bu deneyimlerin hastanın sağlık ve tedavi sürecine etkileri başlıkları altında tartışacağız.

Although, caregiving reveals itself within the processes of health and treatment, there have been no sufficient ground to discuss its implications on health processes. Despite the growing evidence on the impact of personal experiences of caregivers on the psychological and physical well being of themselves as well as their patients; and the interaction between these effects and the treatment process, little effort has put in this issue within the health services. In this review paper, we will focus on the agenda of caregiving in the light of our clinical experiences. We will discuss on the caregiving experiences, physical and psychological effects of caregiving process on caregivers, and the effects of caregiving experiences on the health and treatment outcome of patients.
