Obsesif Kompulsif Bozukluk (OKB) Esquirol tarafından tanımlanmış günümüze kadar tanı kriterleri çok az değişikliğe uğramış psikiyatrik bozukluktan biridir. OKB'nin temel özelliği, kişide belirgin strese yol açacak düzeyde şiddetli tekrarlayan obsesif ve kompulsif belirtilerdir. Obsesyon ve kompulsiyonlar zaman alıcıdır ve kişinin alışılmış düzenini, işle ilgili işlevlerini, sosyal etkinliklerini veya ilişkilerini önemli ölçüde engeller. Psikiyatrik bozuklukların dördüncü sıklıkta görülenidir.
Bu derlemede OKB'nin klinik özellikleri, epidemiyelojisi, gidiş ve prognozu, etyolojisi, komorbit bozukluklar, ayırıcı tanısı, tedavi, tedavide direnç ve uzun dönem tedavisi gözden geçirilmiştir.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is one of the psychiatric disorders the criteria for which have not changed much since they were first discribed by Esquirol. The essential feature of obsessive-compulsive disorder is the symptom of recurrent obsessions or compulsions sufficiently severe to cause marked distress to the person. The obsessions or compulsions are time consuming and interfere significantly with the person's normal routine, occupational functioning, usual social activities, or relationships. OCD the fourth most common psychiatric diagnosis in the psychiatric disorders.
In this review OCD's clinical features, epidemiology, course and prognosis, etiology, comorbid disorders, differential diagnosis, treatment, treatment resistance and long term treatment are reviewed.
