Şizofreni hastalarında anksiyete bozukluğu komorbiditesi beklenenden daha sık görülen bir durum olup, kötü sonlanım ve hastalık semptomlarının şiddetlenmesinde önemli bir rol oynar. Yapılan araştırmalarda şizofreni hastalarmdaki obsesif kompulsif bozukluk, posttravmatik stres bozukluğu, panik bozukluk komorbiditesinin de tahmin edilenden daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Tedavide yeterli cevap alınamayan durumlarda ve tedaviye rağmen, semptomlardaki şiddetlenmelerde anksiyete bozukluğu yelpazesi komorbiditesi mutlaka araştırılmalıdır.

Anxiety disorder comorbidity is frequently seen in schizophrenia and plays an important role in poor outcome and intensification of symptoms. In insufficient response to treatment and worsening of symptoms, comorbid anxiety should be investigated. Comorbid Obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder and panic disorder, social anxiety disorder are reported more than estimated rates in schizophrenia. In exacerbation of symptoms and inadequate response to treatment, anxiety disorder spectrum should be investigated.
