Bu çalışmada İzmir Devlet Hastanesi'nde 1.6.1992-31.8.1992 tarihleri arasında çeşitli servislerde yatan hastalar için istenen 120 psikiyatri konsültasyonu incelenmiştir. Bu süre içinde yatan hastaların % 1.6 sı için psikiyatri konsültasyonu istenmiştir. En sık konsültasyon isteyen servisler sırasıyla Dermatoloji (% 14), 3. Dahiliye (% 8.9), 2. Dahiliye (% 8.2), 1. Dahiliye (% 4.5) ve Kardiyoloji (% 4.3) dir. Bu hastalarda görülen psikiyatrik tanılar ise sırasıyla Organik Mental Sendromlar ve Bozukluklar (% 14), Anksiyete Bozuklukları (% 10), Depressif Bozukluklar (% 9), Kişilik Bozuklukları (% 8.3) şeklindedir. En sık konsültasyon isteme nedeninin "ortaya çıkan çeşidi psikiyatrik belirtiler" olduğu belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar psikiyatri konsültasyonu isleme oranının son derece yetersiz olduğunu ve bunu etkileyen etmenlerin araştırılması gerektiğini düşündürmektedir.

We have examined 120 psychiatric consultations asked between 1.6.1992-31.8.1992 in Izmir State Hospital. During this period, psychiatric consultation was requested for only 1.6 % of the total hospitalized patients. The clinics which requested psychiatric concultation most frequently are Dermatology (14 %), III. Internal Medicine Clinic (8.9 %), II. Internal Medicine Clinic (8.2 %), I. Internal Medicine Clinic (4.5 %) and Cardiology (4.3 %). The most frequent psychiatric diagnoses made at these patients are Organic Mental Syndromes and Disorders (14 %), Anxiety Disorders (10 %), Depressive Disorders (9 %), Personality Disorders (8.3 %). "The psychiatric signs seen" is the most prevalent cause for asking a consultation. According to these results, the ratio of the request of psychiatric consultations is very low and the factors affecting this, have to be investigated
