Amaç: Araştırmada alkol etkisi altında araç kullandığı için zorunlu bir eğitime tabi tutulan sürücülerin sosyodemografik verilerinin tanımlanması amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca verilen eğitime ek olarak psikiyatri uzmanınca yapılan bireysel görüşmelerin sürücülerin özdenetim becerilerine olan etkisinin değerlendirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Yöntem: Çalışmaya 106 birey alınmıştır. Eğitime ek olarak sürücülerle psikiyatrist tarafından iki kez bireysel görüşme yapılmıştır. Verilen eğitimin özdenetim becerilerine olan etkisini değerlendirmek amacıyla gönüllülere 1. ve 6. haftada özdenetim ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların tamamı erkek olup, yaş ortalamaları 39.92±10.55 yıldı. Katılımcıların 20’sinin (%18.9) yaşamının herhangi bir döneminde madde kullanımı olmuştu, 27’si (%25.5) en az bir kez cezaevine girmişti. Katılımcıların 78‘i (%73.6) KESİ Anketinde en az iki soruya evet yanıtı vermiş olup test ortalamaları 1.81±0.83 idi. Katılımcıların 1. haftadaki özdenetim ölçeğinden 45.38±14.83, 6. haftadakinden ise 41.45±14.57 puan ortalaması elde edildi. Aradaki fark istatiksel olarak anlamlı idi. Sonuç: Çalışmamız zorunlu olarak verilen eğitimin sürücülerin özdenetim becerilerini geliştirme konusunda yetersiz olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca katılımcılardaki madde kullanım ve suç oranının yüksek olması bu eğitime katılan sürücülerin düzenli aralıklarla psikiyatri polikliniğinde takibinin gerekli olduğuna işaret etmektedir

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the sociodemographic data of drivers who were subjected to compulsory training because they drive under the influence of alcohol. In addition to the training provided, it is aimed to evaluate the effect of individual interviews made by a psychiatrist on the self-control skills of the drivers. Method: 106 individuals were included in the study. In addition to the training, the drivers were interviewed twice by psychiatrist. In order to evaluate the effect on self-control skills, the self-control scale was applied to the volunteers in the 1st and 6th weeks. Results: All of the participants were male and their mean age was 39.92 ± 10.55 years. Twenty of the participants (18.9%) had substance use in any period of their lives, 27 (25.5%) had been in prison at least once. 78 of the participants (73.6%) answered yes to at least two questions in CAGE and their test average was 1.81 ± 0.83. Participants mean scores of 45.38 ± 14.83 from the self-control scale in the 1st week and 41.45 ± 14.57 from the 6th week were obtained. The difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Our study shows that compulsory education is insufficient in developing self-control skills of drivers. In addition, the high rate of substance use and crime in the participants indicates that the drivers participating in this training should be followed up in the psychiatric outpatient clinic at regular intervals.
