Amaç: Şizofreninin pozitif belirtileri psikotrop ilaç tedavisine iyi yanıt vermektedir. Ancak psikotrop ilaç tedavisinden yarar gören
hastalar bile kişiler arası ilişkilerde yetersizlik, işsizlik, yaşam kalitesinde azalma gibi sorunlarla karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Bu
nedenle şizofreni tedavisinde ailelerin de etkin katılımcı olması önerilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, psikososyal yaklaşımların
aileler üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmaktır. Yöntem: Şizofrenik bozukluk tanısıyla en az bir kez yatırılarak tedavi uygulanan
hastalar ve aileleri belirlendi. Ailelere çalışma hakkında bilgi verilerek katılma konusunda onayları alındı. Çalışma bakım veren
yirmi üç kişiyle tamamlandı. Bakım verenlere Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu uygulandı. Çalışmanın başında ve sonunda0 bakım
verenlere Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği, Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, Kısa Belirti Ölçeği ve
Bakım Verenlerin Güçlüklerini Belirleme Formu uygulandı. Üç ay sürdürülen bu çalışmada, çalışma ekibi bir psikiyatrist ve bir
psikiyatri hemşiresinden oluştu. Çalışma ekibi iki haftada bir olmak üzere bakım verenleri evinde toplam altı kez ziyaret etti.
Bulgular: Üç ay sonunda bakım verenlerin sosyal işlevselliğinde artış, aile ilişkilerinde düzelme ve yaşadıkları güçlüklerde
azalma gözlenmiştir. Bakım verenlerin çalışma sonundaki ölçek puanları başlangıç puanlarıyla karşılaştırıldığında, Yaşam Kalitesi
Ölçeği, Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, Kısa Belirti Ölçeği ve Bakım Verenlerin
Güçlüklerini Belirleme Formu’nun ölçek ortalama ya da bazı alt ölçek ortalama puanları başlangıç ortalama puanlarına göre
anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Tartışma: Bu çalışmanın sonuçları şizofreni hastalarına bakım verenlere psikososyal
yaklaşımların özellikle sosyal işlevsellik, aile ilişkileri ve yaşam kalitesini artırma yönlerinden yararlı olduğunu göstermiştir. Ancak
bu çalışmada örneklem görece küçüktür ve çalışma süresi kısadır. Bu nedenle, psikososyal yaklaşımların daha büyük örneklemle
ve daha uzun süre uygulanması önerilir.

Objective: The positive symptoms of schizophrenic disorders have been responded to psychotropic drug treatment as good,
but patients who were benefit from psychotropic drug treatment were exposed to some problems such as lack of interpersonal
relationships, unemployment, decreasing of quality of life. Because of this, it was suggested that the families must be active
participant to treatment of schizophrenia. The objective of this study, psychosocial approaches how effects about families of
patients with schizophrenia are to investigate. Method: The families of patients who have diagnosing to a schizophrenic
disorder and formerly given inpatient treatment were determined. The information about study was given to families, and were
got their consents. The study was completed with twenty-three caregivers. First, caregivers filled up Sociodemographic
Information Form. At the beginning and at the end of study, WHO Quality of Life-BREF(TR), Family Assessment Device,
Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Short Sypmptom Inventory and Stres Assessment of the Caregiver was
applied to the patients. The study team consisted of a psychiatrist and a psychiatric nurse, and the study was carried on three
[month]s. The studing team visited to the caregivers at their homes, one time in two weeks, and six times as total. Results: At
the end of three [month]s, the caregivers experienced increasing at social functioning and improving at family relationships and
decreasing at difficulties. At the end of study, some subscales or total scale scores of WHO Quality of Life-BREF(TR), Family
Assessment Device, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Short Sypmptom Inventory and Stres Assessment of
the Caregiver was found to be higher than at the beginning score as significantly. Discussion: The findings of this study has been showed that psychosocial approaches are benefit especially in social functioning, family relationships, increasing quality of
life in caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. However, the sample of this study is relatively small and the time of this study
is short. For this reason, it is suggested that psychosocial approaches must be applied with greater sample and for a long time.
