Hemşireliğin savunuculuk rolünü etkin biçimde gösterebileceği bir alan şiddet kavramıdır. Bireyin yaşamış olduğu ya da yaşayabileceği her türlü şiddeti tanılamak, değerlendirmek, önlemek ve var olan şiddet karşısında gerekli müdahaleleri yapmak hemşirenin savunuculuk rolünün gereğidir. Savunuculuk esas olarak yaşadığı sıkıntı nedeniyle; endişelerini dile getiremeyen savunmasız hastalara yönelik yardım amacı içermektedir. Genel olarak savunuculuğun amacı, güçsüz olanları güçlendirmektir. Bu makalede yaygınlığı ve hemşirelerin çalışma alanı olması açısından; kişilerarası şiddet olarak tanımlanan çocuk, kadın ve yaşlıya yönelik şiddet ve savunuculuk ele alınmıştır.

An area where nursing can effectively demonstrate advocacy is the concept of violence. It is related with the responsibility of the nurse's advocacy role to recognize, evaluate and prevent any kind of violence that an individual has lived or could have experienced and to make necessary interventions in the face of existing violence. Advocacy includes help for vulnerable patients who can not express their concerns mainly due to the hardship they experienced. In general, the aim of advocacy is to strengthen the weaks. In terms of the prevalence and the fact that it is the field of study about nursing; violence and advocacy towards children, women and the elderly, which are defined as interpersonal violence, is evaluated in this manuscript.
